I don’t personally know a single person who like the design of the S III. I agree there should be a poll, I just don’t think that most people would find it beautiful.

BOTH the S3 and the htc use polycarbonate!

Samsung’s chips are second to none. It’s embarrassing that htc’s “latest and greatest” can’t even handily best a year old device.

May be I am not the creme dela creme of the tech world, but I will spend my money on GSIII for sure when it is out. After all as the author of the article states,

What a dumb thing to complain about. You could argue iPhones are ugly too, since no one in their right mind uses one without wrapping it in a giant rubberized Gumby case. Metal bend. Glass shatters. I’ve lost count of the number of smashed up iScreens I’ve seen. Making something out of glass that you’re going to carry around in your pocket is arguably dumb. Plastic has some give. Metal bends and glass breaks. What’s the most practical material for something that is going to be falling out of your pocket at least once a day? I’ve never understood the industry fetish for glass phones.

The thing that disappoints me about the Galaxy is not superficial crap like that. I’m disappointed by the persistent rumor that the US version will not be quad core because for some reason no one except Qualcomm seems to be able to figure out how to make an LTE modem.

You guys like to fawn over metal unibodies but here’s the thing: the S III has a user replaceable battery which makes it a big fat win over the iPhone. It has removable storage which repairs the main failure of the Nexus.

It isn’t revolutionary but with those two items it managed to hit every remaining bullet point on my wish list. Who the hell cares about plastic?

No, that’s a feature Samsung put in there for “us”, the fans. It will make S3 the best option for music. Read up on it and be thankful Samsung actually listened!

The cmos sensor for the camera? Yes, it’s the latest and greatest with a lot new features asked for by “fans” Best low light performance for any 8mpix out there. Samsung listened to the fans and put things in the software like HDR and we also wanted zero shutter lag and they provided!

The design? It’s nice! How can you say otherwise? Compared to SGS and SGSII this is the best one yet! (not including Note) Printing personal opinion like it’s a fact disgust me.
Fingerprints? Get some silicone.

We “the fans” also wanted better GPU-performance. So Samsung clocked the shit out of it. It’s now more than we need for a year ahead, as no one will make games for android that put’s S3 to it’s knees anyway…

This was crap to get views. It worked, but pissed me off. The Verge was even worse though. *sigh*

You’re basing premium on the premise of design, I base premium on how my phone would manage falls, slips, and possible mishaps. The iPhone 4, for as nice as it looks and feels, fails in that department.

And really? Why would anyone want to buy a case? Is that a serious statement? Tell that to the billions of dollars the smart phone accessory market generates annually. Or heck, Apple damn near required a “bumper” (which by all accounts, is a case), for actual functionality purposes.

You’d be pretty naive NOT to case up your $500 phone, unless you want to damage what is essentially money in your hand. The re-sale value of these phone’s is fairly good, and I’d rather protect my phone to ensure it’s value down the line, then possible damage.

1. Before mobile phones, I don’t recall a phone EVER being made of glass and/or metal. Is this somehow something terribly obvious that entrepreneurs of the past overlooked? Polycarbonates are very advanced polymers originally created as a wartime solution for stopping bullets and collateral shrapnel. A very tough, advanced material. Why is it discussed as if it is substandard?

2. What about screen size? That is a major factor and selling feature. Or, does the Jobs legacy include posthumous mind control that 3.5 inches is all anyone ever needs? (loooook into my eyes… you are faaaaalling asleeep…).

I'm a Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, and iPad owner. But iPhone is still being considered miles apart from the competition? Those who think so are seriously delusional. A great phone to be sure, but one that has quickly seen worthy competition galloping right alongside and threatening to unseat as mac-daddy (pun intended).

The iSheep campaign is more about those who are sitting on the fence and are looking to be different, or who don’t really have an emotional tie to the iPhone (they’re not getting it because everyone else has one).  You could go down the iPhone path with the billions – or you could open your eyes to something different.  So it’s not laughing in the face of the customer, because those who you are laughing at will never be a Samsung (or any other brand) customer.

For me, I am indifferent.  I’ve had an iPhone 4 (provided by my old company) but now I am keeping an eye out for something different.  I am not an iSheep, but if the iPhone is the best out there, then so be it.  And I’m getting an iPad, but only because Samsung is taking it’s f*cking time to get the Galaxy Note 10.1 out.
