I wouldn’t care either, save for the fact I’m hearing a fair number of comments from current G-nexus owners about how their screen ‘oddly’ already shows scratching.

I heard it will use DragonTrail glass. If it did that would be AMAZING, DragonTrail is supposed to be way better than Gorilla Glass.

I don’t mind that its not using gorilla glass, I rarely drop my phone as it is. I’m still super psyched about the Nexus ;)

No, it uses an aluminosilicate, which is a type of “fortified glass.” They’ve done microscopic tests to prove that. But it’s not Gorilla Glass, and that’s why it shatters. It’s cheap crap. Hopefully this isn’t.

iPhones don’t. They use an aluminosilicate, but nobody has proven it is Gorilla Glass. It shatters on impact, compared to the Galaxy S II, which doesn’t. iPhones appear to use an off brand too. I sure hope the Galaxy Nexus doesn’t shatter like that too. It’s horrible to see an iPhone 4S spiderweb from a 3 foot drop.

Just leave your phone in your pocket after the movies. At least until you wash the butter off your fingers. If ur a clutz, get a case or insurance. Or both! If glass is the determining factor for your phone purchase….Maybe you need to go back to flip phones.

I highly doubt it uses Dragontrail* glass from Asahi as Samsung has a joint venture with Corning to produce their own glass. I would think it would be very uneconomical for them to go with another brand.

I hope it does it is supposed to be stronger than Gorilla Glass. And from experience with the Motorola Defy which is supposed to be the “life proof” phone which had Gorilla glass and it shattered when I dropped it on the sidewalk. :(

that’s not curved, that’s tapered. you can mill the edges of gorilla glass but you cant curve it, not without a significant lensing affect anyway, corning themselves said so.

Note…Gorilla glass is a joke at the screen size we have now…AND the Nexus 1 and Nexus S also didn’t have Gorilla glass.

Whatever glass it is, I’m sure its not going to be a standard low quality glass. This is Google and Samsung’s high profile device (at least for 3-6 months). I doubt these multi-billion dollar companies would go cheap and skim that cost and lose face over it.

After scratching my ipod 2g recently I did some research and found it difficult to find out what sort of glass manufacturers are using or how the glass compares with gorilla glass. A lot of people seem to assume gorilla glass is being used everywhere. Glass strength is important to me.

I don’t care what the reason is for not having the gorilla glass, unless they can provide me with something just as good or remove the curved design …. is it really that important?
If you could only have one, gorilla glass or curved glass, what would you want?
