Look, I’m an Android fan, Apple (the company, not the products) hater. I challenge you to find one reasonable source that compares the picture quality of the 4S and the GNex and finds that the GNex is even comparable, nevermind superior. While killing time waiting for the thing to release, I’ve read dozens of articles about this, and the conclusion from almost all of them is that the G-Nex is quick, but underwhelming, while nobody finds fault with the 4S’s camera in any regard. Unless something changes in the next couple of weeks, it’s just reality that Apple wins the camera round.

Forget about the MP I know cameras….. This is a great phone I understandand I get it and I want one …… but numerous reviews from the UK and even the release demo models to….. CNET-PC MAG-SLASHGEAR-ALL OF THEM have a current sneak review and all say camera is sub-par for such a great phone. It should be better…….

“Word on street”? …Really? As for the so called software issue you’re talking about(which I’ve never seen mentioned anywhere), so you’re telling me that Verizon/Google/Samsung learned about this issue over a month ago(since Verizon never even implied that the US Galaxy Nexus would be released at the same time as the UK version so that means this issue has been a problem since October) and all of their programmers and engineers have been unable to fix the issue in all this time? Sure man. Riiiiight.

you dont know for sure that verizon is to blame…the word on the street is that the lte version have software issues that’s the reason why it’s been delayed in the states. i’m no fan of verizon either but maybe it’s not their doing!

Every review and representation of this phones camera is completely opposite of what you say. 5mp means absolutely nothing. The processor, lens, sensor are what make up tue prime factors if a camera. Pick up a 20mp camera from WalMart and you’ll understand how little the megapixels compare to a cameras other factors.

One mistake google makes is they let the carriers have too much control. One thing I love about apple is once they announce something, you get a solid release date.. Then boom there it is… Middle finger to the Carriers. Dont announce something and then wait a month or more to release it.. You loose steam and then people like us see the next big thing and just say f it! SMH Google.. Dont do this with your pure google phone..

Same exact thing for me. I was disappointed that there was no redesigned iPhone 5, and totally ready to buy this Galaxy Nexus on release. As the rumored release dates kept passing by, I just could not wait any longer to upgrade. My Droid Incredible is on its last legs and really needs to be replaced. I ordered an iPhone 4S last night. So long Android. It has been fun.

Google did not give Verizon Exclusivity they gave them “first rights” to the phone in the U.S.
until Verizon releases the phone other phone companies can follow in order, mark my words this will be the last time Google does this type of deal with Verizon on any new Nexus phone.

Uh… money. Verizon is extremely wealthy and most likely put in a very high bid. As part of the deal they probably bought the right to release it when they saw fit as long as it was within a certain time frame which was acceptable to Google/Samsung.

That said, I think its hilarious that a month extended wait is causing people to bail on getting still one of the best if not best phones soon to be released. Just because your 2 year just ended doesn’t mean you NEED to upgrade asap. Mines been done for 2 months. But I’m waiting for ICS and a kickass phone.

How is it clear this camera sucks? Just because the megapixels are bit low compared to other phones that means nothing with picture quality. It just means a difference with picture size. In fact the sensor and lens of the camera make up the quality and everything I’ve seen reported state that these are top notch. I’ve even heard mention of an F stop so low as to put other phone camera’s to shame. Based on your previous comment I’m going to assume you know little about cameras so what this means is that you will be able to take phenomenal low light photos which is a rare quality in phone cameras.

The Galaxy Nexus could come out in March and I’d still wait. No way am I going to get a POS Iphone or even switch carriers. Verizon has been good to me for 10+ years. Verizon is just trying to sell as many Razrs and Rezounds as possible. I notice the Verizon sale on all phones ends on Monday.

I totally agree. Definitely a Verizon thing. And sadly, Verizon is just the dominant provider and can do such things. That said, they still offer great service, and when the Nexus does come out, I’m planning to pick one up.

Don’t make things up. There is no proof of the Nexus being delayed because of the volume bug. Verizon’s network doesn’t use the frequency that the bug affects so it’s not like it would have affected Verizon phones. Moreover, that bug wasn’t discovered UNTIL AFTER THE PHONE WAS RELEASED IN EUROPE. How could the phone be delayed because of a bug that wasn’t even known about? Oh, right…it couldn’t. Verizon always planned to delay the release.

wow. my interest for this phone has certainly lowered. im seriously almost over this damn phone. i mean. the no sd card slot already made me think twice about it already. the only thing that keeps me drawn to this phone is the lovely 4.6 screen.

anyone know what is the next big android verizon phone with a 4.5+ screen? because thats all i really care about is a nice big screen. and im sure all future smart phones will come with dual/quad-core cpu and a 1gb of ram. so all i want is a really big screen.

I will say that for me and my needs, the Nexus seemed to be a great match. I have also no complaints about the Verizon network I have enjoyed for a good number of years. It is NOT that Verizon has failed to met RUMORED dates set by bloggers.

It is the simple fact that Verizon COULD have made some announcement regards an anicipated date. I’m sure some will say that isn;t the Verizon way but really. If they had said in Cotober on it’s unveiling that it was expected to be released to the US public bnear the end of the year, they could have looked good in this debacle.

If they had made notice the last couple of weeks that testing had revealed bugs they were not happy with so release was pushed back pending resolution, they still could have looked good. As it stand right this moment, the only thing that “looks good” from Verizon is their efforts to smother a release they didn’t want their competitors to offer up. I still may get a Nexus but for most, the phone had already “peaked”.

If I get the Nexus for my use and that of my employees, it will onlt be because nothing else has been given a firm release date that might be better. And yes, I am up for contrsact renewal and as good as your coverage is Verizon, your disdain and toal lack of interest in what your customer base wants is making a return to AT&T more palatable.

You may only lose a few thousand users over the Nexus but you better wake up before you have the grertest network with the fewest users. Just my 2 cents.

Congrats, Verizon, Google and Samsung. I’m getting an iPhone 4S. I’ve been due for an upgrade for months. I held out for an iPhone 5 but when Apple went incremental instead of big, I held out for Verizon’s Nexus device. Clowns on the blogs make the wait worse, but VZW, Samsung and Google are the ultimate cause by announcing a phone then not having the decency to give their fan base a date. As much as I’ll miss free turn-by-turn voice nav and LTE speeds, Apple has a non-lagging interface and it updates when it says it will. I’ve been fairly happy with my Droid OG. Motorola builds a solid and sturdy device but their updates were a disaster. They would promise a date, miss it, then ignore customer requests for info about the updates Moto had promised.

I think so too. That’s why I never got cell phones from any carrier. I’d rather go for it on Internet and find a trustable retailer selling cell phones that come from unauthorized channels
