I bought an extra long firewire cable jut so that I could move the noise away from me.  The drive looks really slick but lets face it with the price that we pay for the peripheral, it should be a lot quieter!

So I tried one of the G-RAID minis which, ironically, does support RAID 1. Unfortunately they generate too much noise.
