Late last month a mysterious Sony Ericsson handset purporting to be the W890 showed up on a Polish auction site; now researchers at Swedish cellphone magazine Mobilhave spotted an advert for the upcoming handset, set to succeed the popular W880i.  With larger, less tic-tac-like keys and HSDPA access, the phone will also support European UMTS high-speed cellular internet access.

Much physically is unchanged over the W880i – the new model comes in at the same 12mm thickness, for instance – but it’s believed that the camera has been upgraded from 2 to 3.2-megapixels.  40MB of onboard storage is augmented by SE’s Memory Stick Micro format, and the handset should be available in both black or maroon.
