Fujifilm FinePix XP90 is waterproof to 50-feet

Fujifilm has announced a new rugged and compact digital camera called the FinePix XP90. The hallmark features of the camera are a rugged design and compact dimensions that make it easy to carry on adventures in the outdoors. The XP90 meets IP68 standards meaning it is waterproof to 50-feet, can survive drops from 5.8-feet, and operates in temperatures as low as 14F.

The camera is also dustproof to survive dust and sand. A dual locking mechanism prevents accidental opening of the battery/memory card compartment. The sensor in the XP90 is a 1/2.3" 16.4MP BSI CMOS sensor that promises good performance in a wide range of conditions. The camera can shoot images at up to ten frames per second in bursts at full resolution.

If you reduce the resolution to 2MP, the camera can shoot bursts at 60 fps. An interval timer shoots images on a set interval of 10 minutes, 5 minutes, 60 seconds, 30 seconds, or 15 seconds and there is a time-lapse video function.

Video recording can be done in full HD at 10, 30, or 60 fps. The lens is a 5x optical zoom unit that is 28mm wide and the 5x optical zoom can be used along with 10x digital zoom. The camera weighs 203g and has a 3-inch 920k dot resolution screen on the rear with anti-glare coating. The camera can be used underwater for images or shooting video. It also has wireless connectivity to phones and tablets built in along with lots of in camera editing functions. Pricing and availability are unknown.
