Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is (maybe) getting a reboot, too

You can add Will Smith's popular 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to the list of TV shows getting a reboot. According to recent reports, Smith's production company has a project in the pipeline that will either be a reboot of Fresh Prince, or will be a sitcom series that is similar in nature — reports are conflicting, but the more reliable of the sources indicate the upcoming show will be in the vein of Fresh Prince rather than a direct update. It has been just under 20 years since Fresh Prince wrapped up.

According to Entertainment Weekly, reports from earlier this week that The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air will be rebooted aren't entirely accurate — it says sources have revealed Overbrook Entertainment, Will Smith's production company, is looking into launching a new TV series that will "share some surface similarities" to Fresh Prince.

The extent of those similarities wasn't specified, and the source says that things aren't very far along at this point — there's reportedly no network in place yet to air it, nor a concept for the show or a script. As such, it will probably be a while before we see it air.

This follows news that the family-centric 90s show Full House will be coming to Netflix as one of its original series, and will include a large number of the original cast members. Check out the timeline below for more information on that!
