If I understand what you are saying then USA is screwed for manufacturing unless we have the raw materials. I don’t understand how the companies in this country that manufacture are able to employ USA workers, compete and profitable. They have the opportunity to offshore but have decided not to.

We buy so much from China, send our money to China so they can in turn loan it back to the government at a high interest rate! Isn’t that smart on our part. The Chinese are laughing at us. So how do we break mentality to manufacture in China with the thinking it is always cheaper when it isn’t. We need to start making more things in the country. We need the Apple’s in Silicon Valley  to invest in manufacturing in the USA, make more things in the USA even if it means making lesser profit. Time to think about making this country a better place to live and show true patriotism and not just filling the pockets of the shareholders.

I am familiar with manufacturing and I know of many USA based electronic OEMs who used to go to China to manufacture are now returning. Why? Because the quality in China sucks? Go to China and you will see why the plant blew up. I visited factories in China and not one of them would have passed any electrical code. I know someone will argue the point. But in reality they do have codes but they are not implemented or monitored. Seeing things manufactured in China is an experience you won’t forget! Just watch the Foxconn video as a starter. How many times does this happen every day but we don’t hear about. I am surprised these events aren’t reported at the smaller companies.
