You don't think there is corruption at every level here in the US? Where the hell do YOU live? No we do not have fake food here or lead in everything, but have you been outside of the cities to rural America? I live in rural America and the toxic waste is everywhere here in places. And where in America do they treat you the same whether you have money or not?!

We shift and hide the burden here in the States and that works okay for a while. I am not saying that we have it worse than they do in china because the corruption there is really bad, and different. But I will not stand up and publicly say that we don't have serious problems here that we need to fix.

No we are definitely not. Not in a general level as over there. You signed up in a coal in and you understood the risk/conditions. You have healthcare, insurance, many benefits. Most of all, much higher pay rate than over there. The workers in China probably didn't sign up to be work in conditions like that. Who in their right minds would? Unless they are desperate for money, have no other alternative in their life and they must tried everything to survive. Man, don't talk like you live over there for so many years and have an ideal of what it like over there. Fake food, lead in food and toys, fake currency, mafia gangs operate openly and own the police. I can't even tell you how much worse it is there than in the US. We have our own problems, but the country as a whole is not being openly suppressed and corrupted on every level. Supposed you got in an accident and call 911, the whole package arrived: police, fire fighter, and ambulance. Over there, if you don't have money, they're going to leave you to your death. Not gossips. You go and live over there for awhile and see. If they know you have money, they're going to treat you differently. If you don't, they going to treat you like dirt.

Agreed! And because there would be no benefit to reporting it, other than to benefit the workers, nobody really cared to do so. And everyone knows that we don't like workers here in the States, especially since unions are such bad awful things these days too... but we've gotta have those iPhones!

Our priorities are so jacked up and backwards. And so much of what we need to fix is right here at home, but nobody with any power is doing anything about it.

This article is a start though. How can we criticize what other countries do when we are worse ... AND won't even admit it!

I use to work in a coal mine before I went back to college in 2007, and the working condition was even worst there (and yes the mine was in US), but no one reported about it because the mine wasn't producing Apple products. There are places in US with far worst working conditions than Foxconn, why is no one caring about those places...
