I recently wrote about a report that indicates teenagers generally are taking some privacy steps to protect themselves from online risks.
That report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project was somewhat of a relief to read. However, another recent Pew report examines a different threat faced by teens: cyberbullying.

I am pretty sure many of us have had this happen before, suck it up and get over it - it happens to us all.

Pretty true, but that stuff goes on all the time in those kid chat rooms with friends or whether it be in the AOL KOL and RED chat rooms. Either way it seems to end up happening all over the net it would take a strong person to stop it all.

Cyber bullying is a really big deal these days, especially with young teenagers, but even with adults. I have read many articles about bullies actually leading some to suicide. It really is a shame.
Does anybody know any programs or websites that can be used to aid those who are bullied online?

Parents can stop kids from getting cyberbullied by not allowing them to go in chat rooms. I know that not all chat rooms are bad, but I would recommend them staying away from them. In my opinion, kids shouldn't have internet access at all until they are able to handle it responsibly. It's like a knife, I think they need to be a certain age or maturity level before they can have it.

Yea, AOL & Earthlink and those type of internet providers as well offer WONDERFUL parental controls so that children can get into a safe environment. I think its different if someone is getting bullied and is not able to get away by this means I mean getting stocked by someone and they cannot get away.
