yes, I still use gaim.

Only because its pre-installed in most popular distros. I'm sure that will change with time and pidgin will take over.

MSN!! probably because more friends are there. and it more widespread.. however i like google talk too. Add in the list IRC. the easiest way to get in touch with millions of people.

Gaim was flakey on XP, and now running Vista Business, going to try and install pidgin and see how things work.

Hi,

I use IRC for my instant messaging - it's quite a drag getting friends / inexperianced users to try it but overall it saves on bandwidth and eventually they don't turn back.

Sometimes oldschool is the best way to do things, but should I have a contact who is unwilling to use IRC or can't us it, I would then use GAIM to keep in contact.

Yea, I would understand as like no one I know that is not tech-savvy has ever heard of IRC. So most stick to the simple AIM or Yahoo.

I always stick to my AIM however using it from my phone can be quite troublesome. Google Talk is a really useful program as well.

Yea, AOL is usually what I"m using I sometimes use MSN and YIM but only because certain people don't have AOL or AIM.
