maybe because OSX is based on the X platform much like *nix operating systems, so deep down they are a lot closer than you might think
also, as best i understand it from having never used a mac, they update themselves constantly and pretty much take care of themselves, which makes them slightly easier to maintain that a *nix system
but i love XP, not home though, XP home makes me want to punch babies, kinda like Windows ME
i like linux too, its just fun to play with and its very versatile
i have a spare P3 based PC lying around, i am thinking about loading it up with NICs, HDD's and a KVM switch connected to my current desktop and making it into a linux server that will operate as a web server, FTP server, NAS, and maybe a few other functions, and i am not just using linux cuz its free (i have a completely legal copy of Windows Server 2003 with 25 licenses) but because its the easiest at customizing to perform those functions at the most efficiency.
those are just my thoughts, i would like to try OSX and FreeBSD, but i dont have the spare hardware to try FreeBSD and i dont have a mac.

I'm a Mac guy living in a PC world.....My choice is always going to be OSX, however, practically everything I own runs on XP. I'm not too happy with Vista, as I recently downgraded back to XP, and I've never been much of a Linux guy.
