Hmm,

Seems i have a dns problem.

I have 4 routers. 1x linksys BEFW11 (I know its old, it just passes stuff over to the other 3 and 1 server)

2x WRT54GS (they are custom with DD-WRT) and 1xWRT54GX

I am having problems on the WRT54Gs with VERY SLOW DNS changes. eg; 1-2 days. Should be 2-4 hours like on the other routers.

How can I fix this?

Try telling your 2x WRT54GS to take DNS directly from the BEFW11, if that doesn't work you could also try your ISP DNS ips immediately.

or you could change out one of the WRT's for the BEFW11 and see if that fixes things, but other than that what krispy said should fix it

hmm, BEFW11 doesn't sound like the problem

I think what krispy said would fix it... try changing it to your ISPs DNS as well.. then its more direct

Hmm, seems what krispy said is providing a much better response time and faster dns (I just changed it to the BEFW11 gateway address!)

I have had so many problems with my Linksys gateway and wireless routers so I could be a trained professional now on how to fix them. As I have had so many long hours on the phone working on them. So if anyone ever needs help with that I would be willing to help out. In your case this doesn't qualify... sorry! Hopefully it is getting fixed.

Just curious Monty, what kind of setup are you running that requires the use of 3 routers?

Or you can just drop kick it and get a new one like we did.

We have a Vonage (our home line) and Packet8 (business - for my work- line) running off our routers here. For the past week, we can get dropped connections for IRC/AIM/YIM, but MSN stays connected and we have no issues with web browsing. The linksys is *SO* getting replaced. ;)

I built my own router out of a 500Mhz, Intel P3, 256MB RAM, computer and it works awesome. Like others have asked, why do you need 4 routers? I would have one router be authoritative for your dns, and then have all servers point to that one router. Although the other servers may be under different routers, they can still go back to the one DNS router. I hope this helps!
