Via makes cpus? I thought they only made chipsets...

Link me? I only found small CPUs for things like pocket pcs, etc.

right now it would be an Intel Quad core, extreme if i had the dough.

and a project with the new VIA motherboards (both the pico-itx and the latest mini-itx) isnt too far fetched either

i just dont see how people can still be big AMD fans, i am not a fan of either, i am a fan of whoever is putting out the best processors at the time, and sadly, right now, thats not AMD, they are working on some stuff that should give intel a run for their money, but its not out yet.

True say but when you get into servers (like me) you can get Opterons with graeter power than Xeons for good prices! Opterons and Xeons are nice processors!

I'm not a fan of the core2duo servers, but I do like xeons. Just with the opterons, the multipliers are unlocked.
