Some how too vulnerable, not only from hackers or viruses but its own system as well, such bugs, logic error, run-time error or else...

I too think it would be extremely risky. The ease would be nice but they would need to make sure no security issues were at stake as you know people aren't going to like to have to vote again if the system gets hacked.

Depends, with the USA they have incredible security.

However, the chance of a bug is very unlikely, runtime errors don't occur in linux, but the fact is their could be a bug, you could have dishonest admins, the list goes on forever...

Yea, and to think one bug could have the e-voting down. I don't know very risky and makes voting a breeze, but is it worth the worry?

Well, it's harder to "crash" then you think.

I've ran many linux webservers before, and essentially, things don't just "Crash"

Code would be burn tested, etc. (I've also coded many projects)

The main problem would be, not a bug, but a vulnerability {do you class that as a bug?}

EG; In apache, or in IIS, or whatever they use... or some kind of RAS software...

just think of the possibilities though!

my last local election (just for the mayor, a few city council spots, etc. etc.) had a turn out of just short or three thousand people, in a city with a population nearly 10 times that (yeah we are a very small city)

if i had to guess, there were more people locally that got online to check their myspace or email than voted.

if the two processes were equally easy and convenient, more people would vote.

also i suspect eVoting is just a small step in the right direction of removing some of this "representative government" crap.

i mean the whole idea behind a representative government is that our nation got so big that everyone couldnt gather in one place to voice their opinions and cast their votes on each particular issue.

with the internet that could become a real possibility.

I don't think it matters how voting is done. You will always get the losing party supporters saying the voting was rigged
