I recently got an Olympus FE-240.

I like this camera a lot. For the camera itself, a case, and a 1GB memory card - it totaled $300 even (bout it at CircutCity). My one and biggest complaint is that it needs to be held pretty still in order to get a good crisp picture. From a distance, it doesn't really matter. But if you plan on cropping the pictures, etc - you'll want to get a tripod (which the cmera does have the little screw thing to attach it to a tripod no problem.

I love the huge screen, and the very use-able interface.

Overall, I rate it a 7.5/10 for a beginner-level point-and-shoot camera.

I'm more than happy to answer any questions on the camera .

Olympus is a WONDERFUL camera provide and so is Nikon. But we have a Nikon and Olympus and the Olympus has sooo many features we would never use but it is a very good camera. I love my Nikon because of the support I get and how good the product is altogether.

the only beef i have with Olympus cameras is that half retarded, completely proprietary, xD card, just like Sony and their damn Memory Sticks

Yea, they jack up the prices so high because they know you need them.

I agree with James, I hate the xD card. They aren't exactly proprietary, as Fuji uses (used?) them. But last time I checked, they were way more expensive than your average SD or CF card.

On a positive note, the xD cards are nearly indestructible. I once saw a review of around 5 different cards to see which ones could hold up the best, and the xD passed every single test. They even nailed it to a tree and were still able to retrieve every single picture off of it. Was very impressive.

Wow that's pretty impressive but sometimes I think they do that just to get more money out of you... which is more than likely the case in many of them.
