Yea, really just depends on needs and if it is just for fun or for a hobby. Lots of aspects go into the best choosen camera, you should probably compare features vs different cameras and what she (wants/needs).

I'd say get a futureproof camera.
1) High megapixels (6+) (this ensures quality) 2) Good battery life 3) Size! (SIZE DOES MATTER)

I prefer those that use their own rechargeable batteries or if they don't get ones that you can get rechargeable for.

yeah... cameras go through batteries like mad!
It's the flash and the bright LCD screens.

Yea, my camera keeps pretty good battery life against some other ones.
