SD1000 from canon is pretty decent, it's a 7.1 mega-pixel camera for around 200, newegg has it for 213

I have a Nikon and it has been a pretty good camera very easy to use and has WiFi if you have any need for that, I paid about $200 but there are cheaper ones. It is definitely a good one for a teen. As there are some fun functions that the camera do and what is included.

I'm not exactly sure what that is but if you would let me know what it stands for I can probably find out. Sorry for my little knowledge about the acronym.

The SD1000 looks like a very nice camera. With 7.1 mega pixels that will get you some VERY high quality shots. I think it's an excellent suggestion and should definitely be taken into consideration.

Well depending on how old his daughter is it may not matter the quality. I guess he probably should have stated her age...

Well, to be honest age doesn't matter... if the daughter wants to get serious. I think that would be a great camera (That's just my opinion) Personally I would buy that camera... if I wanted a camera, and if I had money :P
