Foremay to ship world's fastest 1.8-inch SSD

If all out speed is what you want when it comes to the hardware in your various gadgets, a company called Foremay (PDF) has a new SSD that you will like. The company claims the new SSD is the world's fastest 1.8-inch SSD. The little drive is only 3mm to 5mm thick and uses micro SATA interface. The real news is the fast performance.

The SSD can hit read/write speeds up to 280 MB/s and has 4kB random IOPS of 30,000 in read and 15,000 on write. The little drive will come in up to 400GB capacity. That is a lot of storage on such a little SSD. The company is aiming the SSD at the high-end laptop market, enterprise server, industrial PC and HPC markets.

The blazing fast SSD tech will be offered in a few different SSD families with the 5mm thick SSDs in the SC199 and EC188 series. A similar design in a thin 3.3mm form factor is offered as the OC177. I am almost afraid to know what a SSD with 400GB of storage and this sort of performance would cost.
