I may prefer Honda and Mazda personally, but I have no problem admitting that I respect Ford’s due diligence in their quick response and applaud their efforts to deal with a problem immediately. Too many companies these days that bury their heads in the sand and pretend that a serious problem isn’t serious.

3,500 lb vehicle with 1.6L engine? Anybody that pays $25,000 for a truck with a motorcycle engine should not be surprised when they have problems!

Then why did Toyota have there accelerators stick open that caused owners to crash. All Makes have the same amount of recalls no matter what country they are from.

Every time I start to think I might consider buying a domestic car, I see the problems that they have. My cousin’s 2011 Fiesta, which has electrical problems when it rains. The Focus and Fiesta DSG transmission problem. My co-workers Fusion with drive-by-wire throttle problems, and now transmission problems. And now this (far from the first Ford fire problem). Of course, my Honda Accord hasn’t been 100% problem free, but nothing that would kill me or leave me stranded on the side of the road (although there were all those V6 Accords with bad transmissions…)

What a nieve comment. Do you really think Ford didn’t do any R&D or due diligence? Do you realize how many independent parts are on a car. Do you realize that no matter how much testing, sometimes issues appear due to the large population of vehicles, conditions and time they are in service. All car manufactures have recalls. The American “cars are junk” statement is dated and even more evident of being nieve. Don’t buy an American car if you so choose, but don’t hand out unsubstantiated comments based on opinion.

Let me remind y’all of your beloved foreign auto maker and the stuck-accelerator issue.
It’s a shame a recall was issued but I applaud Ford for it’s quick and responsible response to a potential bad situation.

How about doing some R&D Ford? Before you sell the product to the public!!! This is why people don’t buy American Cars, they are junk!!!!
