I used to like Ford with their quality, but not for their designs. Hybrid technology going bite when these vehicles get 10 years and older range. Secondary makert is where working people can afford a car, Batteries on these things are expensive as heck. Dealer prices to repair these things will take people to the cleaners.

The extra cost isn’t worth it for everyone.
When the Escape Hybrid first came out it was definitely worth it for people who did a *lot* of driving, especially stop-and-go. It paid for itself quickly.
Higher gas prices would make hybrids worthwhile for more people.

A quick search shows that Ford jumped all the way up to 16% of the hybrid market. Toyota (the Prius) dropped down to 60%.

I’m not slamming Ford. They are doing great in a market practically owned by Toyota. But the “reporter” was sloppy at best.
