There's a light off in the distance. I've been wanting to replace my ranger (b4000), but the F150 is just too big. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I think a unibody pickup makes great sense for light hauling. If it shares the same architecture as an existing vehicle,Ford could keep the cost down, it would perform better in crash testing, and most important it could get better MPGs. My only concerns are that it not be a dedicated FWD vehicle and could haul a 4 x 8 sheet.. As long as some form of RWD can be used while hauling, traction would increase with increased loads in the truck bed.

Not making full-frame small truck is a mistake. If you need full size truck (if you like Ford products) you get the F150. Ranger was good small truck for its time. I used it for work. Making it into a cross-over uni-body (possibly) front drive truck pickup will make it crappy. It won't have the strength and endurance the last generation of Rangers had. Might well have Escape.

Bring back the Rachero and call it the Ranger. I'd buy one. Put a diesel in it with tons of torque for towing and you have a winner. A standard cab and a crew cab version (to haul a family as well.) Would be pure awesome and beat Chevy to the punch and rock and roll.
