Way to go Ford! Keep it up, and don’t stop. Electric cars are a big part of the slow crawl out of the economic meltdown caused by the systematic concealment of peak oil.

Kay, You are right. the battery IS that much larger. But please note: there is no backup gas engine in the Focus electric, so when you are out of power, that’s it. It sounds useless to most people, but my LEAF with it’s 73 mile range, is good for 95% of my driving, and when I need to go further, I swap cars with my wife.

I will gladly pay $30k (which is what it will cost me after rebates and deductions) to be able to use the HOV lane in California for almost three years. Oh, and to never have to waste time at a gas station again would be great, too!

And you expect me to believe these numbers? The Chevy Volt sells at piddly quantities for nearly the same cost, and reviewers only quote approximately a 20 mile ELECTRIC range. Can Ford be three and a half times more ‘electrically’ efficient than GM? I don’t believe it. Please explain how, unless the battery is that much larger.

76 miles? Are you kidding? Look at the Volt, Chevy just stopped production because too few people are buying them. This thing will face the same fate.

At $39000 who is going to buy this. Until these cars are as affordable as regular cars, not only in sticker price and maintenance, this is not realistic.
