Ford adds Sync AppLink to ten new vehicles

One of the coolest features for tech fans on many new Ford vehicles is Sync. The hands free technology in Sync allows you to control your compatible phone with your voice and to control some of the car systems using your voice. On some cars, you can adjust the temperature and radio station using your voice. One of the coolest things about Sync is that vehicles that are AppLink compatible get even more connectivity between the drivers smartphone and the vehicle.

AppLink allows the user to control certain apps on their smartphones using the Sync hands free system in the car. At launch, AppLink was very limited in the vehicles it was available for. Ford has announced that it has added compatibility to ten more Ford vehicles that was previously on the 2012 Mustang and Fiesta.

The new 2012 model year vehicles to support AppLink include Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Fiesta, F-150, F-150 SVT Raptor, Super Duty, Expedition, E-Series and Shelby GT500. AppLink allows the driver to voice control apps like Stitcher for music and others. More apps are being added that are AppLink enabled as well. Ford also reports that 2,500 developers have signed up to offer apps that work with AppLink so far.
