I’ve been holding off on buying a Wii for some time now. That’s not to say I haven’t actually thought about purchasing one a few times, but they’ve been sold out when I’ve gone looking, and I haven’t really pursued it with much enthusiasm. However, with a new Star Wars game that promises to turn your Wiimote into a lightsaber, I’ll need to get my hands on one.

If you haven’t heard of the upcoming Star War title Force Unleashed, you should really check it out. It promises to be one of the coolest Star Wars games ever. You take the role of the secret apprentice of Darth Vader during the time between episodes III and IV. Basically you kick ass and take names, with incredible Force powers not seen in previous titles.

It has now been confirmed that it will be released for the Wii, and you’ll be able to use the Wiimote to control your lightsaber, while your Nunchuk will control your awesome Force powers. Then again some might argue that hokey religions and ancient weaponry are no match for a good blaster at your side.

Finally, the Wii Lightsaber game is announced! [via crave]
