Flip 10: a tiny (portable) way to charge your phone

You're out and about and your phone's battery indicator starts flashing. An inconvenience, usually. In less favorable situations, you might be stranded somewhere waiting for the tow truck to call, only for your battery to turn red as its final farewell. Whatever the situation, users will find a portable (external) battery handy when the battery is running low, topping it up enough to last a couple more hours, or, in some cases, completely recharging it for another day or so of use.

A properly portable battery needs to have a small form factor, but also enough juice to be worth bothering with. We've seen many examples of these in the past, and joining them is the newest product from Goal Zero, the Flip 10 battery charger.

The Flip 10 charger is a little bigger than your thumb and brings with it a 2600mAh battery, which is enough to fully charge some phones and put a decent enough dent in others. A USB connector for charging the battery itself is built into the unit, folding away when it's not needed and flipping out when it is.

You'll need to have a separate cable, however, that plugs into the battery and into the smartphone. It'll take about 150 minutes to charge the Flip 10 — how long it takes to charge your phone depends on the handset. Check out the timeline below for related news!
