You feel pretty good about being ignorant?

The only reason Macs have largely been virus free for the last 20 years is because as a fringe product (a nice one, mind you, but still a fringe one), hackers would not waste their time to focus on something other than Windows.

Now that Macs have taken up a material share, more and more viruses and trojans will be targeting them. And then we'll see if Macs are truly "safer" as people believe (doubt it) and whether Apple needs to start spending the billions of dollars that Microsoft spends each year to try to stem the hacking tide coming against its OS.

Also, read up on your tech history. MS was not always chasing Apple - MS financially bailed out Apple in the 1990's, after Gates decided it would be in Microsoft's best interests (especially in light of their struggles with the DOJ) to allow Apple to survive and provide some competition.

Holy cow. I can't believe all the boasting about stuff that literally has *nothing* to do with the poster. You mean to say that because Steve Jobs was awesome at building computers and stuff, that YOU personally are a better person than a PC user? What on earth did you do to contribute to Apple's products? You just bought them. You might as well brag about your mad flying skills because you know how to sit on an airplane.

though somewhat offensive, I enjoyed reading this comment as you said many things which are correct. MS is always chasing someone, if it's not apple it's google, but why not? both apple and google have brilliant engineers etc and people will still buy pcs because they're significantly less expensive, and for someone like me, they're highly adaptable. So yes, I'm a pc guy. Apple makes very high grade products, but the same reason they're harder to hack/virus is the same reason I don't use them. Besides, who really wants to pay $30 for a phone charger? ;)

Wow!!! if you have been using apple products for the past 20 years... the question I have is why are you on this tech site? Normally either techies and youths keep up with the news trends, not someone in their 30+ years that normally should have better ways of using their time instead of posting an idiotic comment about false superiority

They probably didn't buy Apple because they were being hounded by the government for being a monopoly and buying one of their few competitors would have never been allowed to happen, and probably would have resulted in the government having a dimmer view of Microsoft, maybe even to the point of breaking the company up. Try actually thinking about an issue for once, you'll make less of a fool of yourself.

I feel pretty good that I've had the leading and best OS for 20 years and have never had to think about viruses for all that time. I don't really feel sorry for PC users though, as they tend to be real idiots. Back when MS had more money than god, I used to say, why don't they simply buy Apple and use its OS as their new OS, Windoze X. After all, MS is always chasing Apple and copying it. But always a few years behind. I can see how years of having to use WIndoze could make a person into an idiot, though, so I should cut them some slack for their ignorance. But I won't.
