" If this is any indicator of what’s to come, we’re going to go ahead and open our eyes and count this as a lost cause."
Typical journalistic sensationalism. Low-res flash video and games play just fine on my Galaxy Tab without any optimization, and high-res stuff works perfectly as long as it has been "optimized for mobile", whatever that means. The author of this article surely knows that things never work perfectly when they are first released.

You realize that the processor in the phone is unlikely to be able to handle most/all of those videos well, right? Flash gave you the ability to see them at all in many cases, but no, 1080p video that plays back pretty crappy on my laptop purchased in 2005 isn't going to be great on my phone whether played via Flash, YouTube native player, or any other technology. (Nor would it fit down a 3G pipe.)

Runs fine on my Desire. Bit choppy sometimes, depending on the video and the player, but overclocking the Snapdragon a little helps with that... and when the alternative is not being able to view embedded video at all (usually you don't even know it's there because it's just a blank space), I'll take Flash 10.1 any day.

It may not be the full web yet, but it's definitely a step in the right directon... just like RockPlayer for playing back XVID/DIVX and H264 MKVs is not perfect, but a step in the right direction. I'd rather have gradual progress than none at all.

Are you using Flash Player 10.1, or Flash Lite that comes standard on the EVO 4G? Because I've used Flash Lite, and while that may not be the "full" experience, it's still not bad, in of itself.

Now keep in mind, this was with a Droid 2. I've tried the same Flash on my EVO & have not had the same problems. I think it was premature to deem flash failed on the whole Android platform from the experience of 1 device.

From Engadget, to games, to youtube clips on sites themselves & flash based sites (I've been rolling smooth.)

Flash fails on Droid 2, not Android in general.
