Well it finally happened, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 was fit into a Playstation 3 case. This May be able to fool your friends into thinking you had enough money for you, but look at it twice and you will see that there is something very strange about it. For one there is a big hole in the front.

Now I have done far more than my fair share of chase modifications, but this is one of the ugliest, near failed attempts that I have ever seen. The hole in the front was made to allow access to the DVD drive, which could not be made to fit the now useless front-loading slot on the side. He went ahead added two fans to protect from overheating, which were soldered in what looks like house fire starting fashion.
The metal casing around the main board was cut pretty horribly rather than just removed altogether. Also the hard drive is just placed loosely on top of the DVD drive, which does not look good to me. To top off this beast there seems to be no way of actually holding the internal components in place. All of the loose wires shooting out everywhere will not hold out when fans and hard drive rock around inside. Is it me or is something being powered by a 9V battery?

That internal glow is pretty cool looking! Although neat, this type of sin against technological nature is almost as bad as a Mac running Windows.

why would you want your friends to think you owned the poorest selling of all current gen consoles?

Got that right.
Man, it looks like he used a chainsaw and tin snips while being blindfolded. I’m all for cool game machine/computer modding, but this isn’t a good example. This is a mickey mouse job at its finest and should be an example of what not to do to people who may be interested in making one themselves.
Maybe his next one will look better after he buys some decent tools and gets some experience with them.

To freddyb –
PS3 sold more than XBOX 360 in the year 2008. Everyone who looks at sales reports seems to know this. PS3 gets bad publicity because of the month of November. One month does not beat a full year. Study something before you post it online, it only encourages more stupidity.
As for the case mod –
It looks like he did give it some effort, the light is definitely cool. Why he only used a 20GB HDD I have no idea, why not put in a 60 or 100 GB even. But I agree with the fact that something is running on a 9 volt battery….only way to keep it from overheating :)
Nice article, hope I didn’t just encourage a flame war……..

Serisously, isn’t the point of mods like this to make the device look good? This is absolutely pitiful.

This thing is on ebay too and some people actually bid on it. Guess they dont realize that he voided two warranties and I am sure he isnt going to provide on himself. I want to know how he is going to ship it with everything loose or is he just going to take the lid off and dump it into a box and slap a sticker on it indicating some assembly is required
