Fitbit Charge, Charge HR leaked in press materials

Fitbit is a leader in the fitness wearable group, and widely popular among those who wish to stay healthy and knowledgeable about their caloric intake or steps taken. After recently swearing off HealthKit (temporarily) to focus on their own platform, we learn exactly what that focus may be about. A leaked shot of new Fitbit marketing materials show an expanded lineup, with a new device that can track your heart rate. Named the Charge, this new Fitbit leads their own charge into 2015.

The Charge duo look like bulkier Flex wristbands, which isn't to say they're cumbersome. The Charge and Charge HR also have similar specs to the Flex, but look like they both might have a larger display.

The difference, as you might have gathered from the naming scheme and talk of heart rate monitoring, is that the HR version of the Charge can track your heart rate.

So how much are you going to pay for this larger screen and heart rate monitoring? Gizmodo points out a Russian retailer have the Charge listed for $185, while the charge HR would cost about $220. That's a significant uptick over the Flex, which hovers right around the $125 mark.

We're not sure heart rate monitoring and an expanded screen make us want to drop an extra $50-100, though. The Charge HR starts to encroach on pricing for a proper smartwatch, which opens up a lot more functionality to the user.
