First 2015 Mustang GT to be sold at Barrett-Jackson auction in January

Ford has announced that it will be auction off the very first retail 2015 Mustang GT for charity. The 2015 Mustang GT will hit the auction at Barrett-Jackson in January to benefit diabetes research charity JDRF. Ford says that the winning bidder will be able to personalize their car with any available Mustang GT options.

The 2015 Mustang will be offered at no reserve and all of the proceeds will go to the charity. The auction will be held on January 18 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Apparently, there won't actually be a finished car at the auction. What the buyer is bidding on is the first production version once production kicks off with delivery set for later in 2014.

The delivery after the auction allows the buyer to choose any options they want on the car. The team that designed the new Mustang will also sign the car. Having those signatures could add a lot to the value of the car in the future.

The auction will be lot 3010. Ford frequently auctions off versions of its cars to benefit charity. Some of the auctions have brought in huge amounts of money for the charity. The 2015 Mustang officially debuted earlier this month.
