Final Fantasy XV development underway at Square Enix tips Yoshinori Kitase

One of the most popular gaming franchises to ever come from Square Enix is the Final Fantasy franchise. The latest game that we have talked about in the Final Fantasy universe is Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn. That game is hitting the PS4 soon and a new PS4 trailer turned up this week.

While the current version of the game is in the works for the PS4, Square Enix is also looking to the future and working on the next version of the game. That next version is Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy producer Yoshinori Kitase recently offered some insight on the next Final Fantasy game.

He said that the project is a "very high" priority for the company and is "quite far" into the development process right now. He wouldn't give up much in the way of detail on the game. He did note that Final Fantasy XV isn’t competing with Kingdom Hearts 3 for resources.

Kingdom Hearts is another of Square Enix's popular game franchises. Kingdom Hearts 3 is expected to come later than Final Fantasy XV because the two games share a project lead. Project Lead Tetsuya Nomura can focus on only one of the games at a time. Final Fantasy XV will hit the Xbox One and PS4 at some point in the future. No timeframe for launch has been announced.
