Final Fantasy Type-0 HD lands on PCs August 18

As mentioned last month, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, a title in the almost never ending franchise that started its life on the PSP, is coming to the PC. Back then, the announcement was missing a few crucial details. Little did we know that it was because we wouldn't really have to wait that long. Square Enix has just announced that the game arrives 18th of August. But even before that date, you can already pre-order your copy on Steam and get a few goodies, most of which, amusingly, isn't related to the game at all.

Do check out our review of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD as it was on the PlayStation 4.

More than just a direct PC port of a game that has been ported from PSP to PS4, the Steam version of FF Type-0 HD adds some very substantial changes to the gameplay without really messing up the game itself. Steam achievements and trading cards, familiar to users of the platform, are supported. An improved in-game battle camera is promised, along with scalable motion blur settings. Naturally, full controller support is there. And those with high-end rigs can enjoy more resolution settings.

Just how high-end should high end be? Square Enix gives these minimum and recommended system requirements for the game:

Minimum System Requirements:

Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1 64bit

Processor: CPU Core i3 2.5GHz

Memory: RAM 4GB

Disk Space: HDD/SSD 30GB

Video: GTX560Ti or AMD Radeon 7790 mp4 [H.264]

Sound: DirectX XAudio2API

DirectX®: 11 and over

Recommended System Requirements:

Operating System: Windows 7, 8, 8.1 64bit

Processor: CPU Core i5 2.7GHz

Memory: RAM 6GB

Disk Space: HDD/SSD 30GB

Video: GTX750 mp4 [H.264]

Sound: DirectX XAudio2API

If you put in a pre-order now, which comes with a 10 percent discount on Steam, you will get an exclusive loading screen, whatever that is. If you also happen to play Valve's DOTA 2, the pre-order will also give you a Chocobo as your courier and a Moogle (Class Zero) as your ward.
