The claim is that the encryption code leaks info about the keys it is using. Its quite a subtle thing that would not be recognized without those in the know.

If true, it might take only a few minutes of VPN usage before enough info was leaked to compromised the session key. Gives a new meaning to the term transparency.

The code is needs to be audited thoroughly. It might even make sense to have a clean room re-implementation of the algorithms.

Gentlemen:

Look there is no need to argue. Gregory Perry can prove his allegation himself. OpenBSD is open source so show us the code Gregory Perry.

There is no need to call anyone a lier here.

Linux probably has a few covert back doors. But it's better then the other OS nonsense on the Market. Because it's open source and you can verify it.

Um LOL!

why make them? Someone has just come out with a serious accusation, and you're asking why it's a news point or a discussion piece? Is the testimony of 1 person absolute definitive proof? No of course not.

But you look ridiculous for saying there's no point in making those claims. Of course it's a subject worth discussion. Personally if there were a backdoor into an OS, I'd be very interested to know about it. Gotta turn your own phrase back on you and tell you to use your head.

One thing I'm curious about... getting access to someones computer for them to review files usually requires a warrant. I wonder... IF there were indeed a back door, where the law would stand regarding the use of it? Warrant? No Warrant? Random officer able to log in at the slightest whim?

Speculate all you want, it doesn't do any good. You don't have anything to backup those claims, so why make them? If you want to speculate about any product with backdoors, it should be SELinux. After all, it's developed by the NSA!

Would be nice to know if Linux has such backdoors built-in by the FBI or other agencies. If so, its "image" as being safe would be quite damaged.

Of course Windows is quite likely full of such backdoors, Microsoft would cooperate without hesitation.
