Fantastic 4 reboot trailer: showing real promise

The same studio that brought you the X-Men movies is giving a bit of a reboot to the Fantastic Four. The first couple of Fantastic Four (or Fantastic 4, if you prefer) films didn't do so hot – the actor who played Johnny Storm left the project to become Captain America with Marvel, if that's any indicator – now it's time to give the title a kick in the pants. Instead of continuing to roll with the same cast and the same plot, 20th Century Fox is bringing heat with a "re-imagining" of the team. The cast you'll see here includes Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell. Below you'll see the first trailer, complete with the torch, the rock skin of the Thing, and some teleportation, too.

Next you'll see a commentary from Yahoo Movies done by the director and the screenwriter-producer. This is Josh Trank, most recently of Chronicle, as well as Simon Kinberg of Xmen: Days of Future Past.

For those of you that've followed the Fantastic Four for many years, it should be obvious that this movie isn't going to follow the original comic book plot. This isn't the Stan Lee / Jack Kirby story. Instead, this movie will follow along with Ultimate Fantastic Four, a series that started – and may or may not have ended – rather recently.
