Do I need to explain why this is bad for the public at large? First if you own an iOS device, Apple is Big Brother. If you own an Android device, Google is Big Brother. Now Facebook wants to get in on the action. Can someone for the love of God please make a smartphone or tablet that does not integrate you into a massive system of data collection services (with no way to opt out) that benefit the corporation and do not exploit the users? Where's the class action lawsuit? I want to use the technology, I don't want to be a member of your advertising or data collection network. I want the tools, not the services that don't serve me. Marketing has ruined technology.

I don't think Facebook got where they are through being that catastrophically daft - but then again, an eventual move to create their own platform would explain why they allow their mobile app to remain such complete rubbish. Not that that fills anybody with confidence about a Facebook OS.

i thought that there were traces in iOS 5.1betas of Facebook being integrated into iOS. makes sense, android got google+ with ics. google won't implement fb into android like apple did with twitter, going for htc, maybe. whats interesting is when motorola will be under googles full control. even if google will still support android on samsung, htc, etc, will android on motorola be better integrated. after all, thats what makes the iPhone such a success - hardware and software. or did google buy motorola only for the patents(kudos apple), will google fail as a hardware and software company..only time will tell
