The sender doesn’t know some of the recipients’ mail is treated differently, leading to endless hurt.

I totally hate it, facebook is suppose to be a social networking site. So many important messages go unseen because people still arn’t aware of this feature.I wish facebook would just revert to the older version,where we’d still get all the messages in one folder!

My fiance’s messages to me go to “OTHER” and I miss his messages ALL the time. How do I change it so I get his messages????

It’s worth pointing out that this came into effect in November of last year! Anyhow, I have no objection to the new inbox, I just wish more attention had been drawn to it. I hate that just because someone isn’t on my friends list that their messages go straight to this “other” place. I have a number of legitimate reasons to contact and be contacted by people I haven’t friended, and I’ve been wondering lately why none have been replying. Turns out that some did and I just never saw the message, while others undoubtedly never saw my message in the first place. I agree that being able to choose how the filtering works would be great — give me the option to send non-friend messages to my inbox, for example.

How annoying. I didn’t even realise that the other box was there until I read this article. Reading through some of the messages I have missed some important ones. Grrrr Facebook, stop changing things!

Personally, I think it should have an option how messages are handled and if “other” shows on your main Facebook Window, one time I had won a little contest (that I entered) for some tea and was contacted from the company after I had missed the post on their wall for several days and If I didn’t randomly go into the other folder one day when I was bored, I would have missed it.
I try to go in every day or two and look there, but it’s so much easier to just glance at the column on the left and see if I have a message.

Be careful of the use of the all-inclusive “we” – after all not all of us are FB sheeple, are not members, and have no plans to be.
