I think you are delusional if you think Facebook is going ANYWHERE for a while!!!!

The only evil empire is Google. They force small businesses to bid for expensive ad space or become invisible and perish. Then they steal users' search data to target ads, invading our privacy. When their Circles fails, they label Facebook as evil. When their bid to launch search in China is thwarted in favor of Baidu, they label China as evil. They place their CEO on Apple's BoD, and steal their plans for a mobile OS after Jobs mentored their founders. Then when they have Android, they label Apple as evil. Yes, yes, anyone who threatens Google is a threat to the Internet, because Google evidently believes that they ARE the Internet! Anyone which threatens them from making more billions must be destroyed.

Here is how Eric Schmidt involved into such anti-humanity crimes
-------------------------------------------------------------
Eric Schmidt had threatened my life with the death of Stanford student May Zhou during his fight with Stanford. Eric Schmidt is part of this plot in May Zhou's death. He had also conspired my life at a later time, and which had cost his Google CEO position.

It started from a 2004 Stanford campus assault case, in which a lady named Gabriele Scheler bitterly assaulted me; Police concluded that I am a victim while Scheler is a criminal suspect after serious investigation; However Sebastian Thrun later joined Scheler to false accuse me at Stanford, and Eric Schmidt had joined them to support Sebastian Thrun and Gabriele Scheler against ruling from Stanford and police. During their tough fight with Stanford in the early 2007, Eric Schmidt and Sebasitan Thrun's side had murderred May Zhou to threaten me, by telling me: "You see May Zhou, she's an Asian (me too an Asian), ... Police might not even find out who did it, what if it happened to you?" , and to terrorize Stanford (because May Zhou is Stanford
student), and they did plot a murder on me as well last year when they found I would not compromise but insist on clarifying their crimes

These accusations had been confirmed by authorities investigation and stand still which Eric Schmidt and Sebastian Thrun dare not deny to the public so far. Eric Schmidt and Sebastian Thrun had not paid for their crimes

Eric, the point at this time is, my accusations are clearly stated while you tried to explain yourself with several lies, and also I had challenged the officer who’s responsible for this case, while he/she dare not reply, all of which would make people more curious of what did you involve and more believe in what I said

This case regards to people with background of great powers as Eric Schmidt is, and also regards to crimes as serious as threatening the victim and endangering people's lives; and already someone innocent like Stanford student May Zhou had mysteriously died and victim's life was conspired; racial issue is a factor; if the case could not be clarified or leave any points dubious and obscure, it will cost more of human lives in the future. At either moral or legal fronts, there is a necessity to clarify the case to the public.

The point is that the data Google collects can be collected by anyone else, if they invest resources to do so.
"do they share the data their crawlers collect with other companies. The short answer is no. Microsoft Bing and Yahoo search can't use search
data collected by Google for their search results. If Google was truly
open they would have allowed that."

Yeah that way Bing would be as good as google and Microsoft would save millions.
Do you realize how silly that sounds?

"truly open" doesn't mean you give away your goose.

"The one business search/ads that makes money for Google is very tightly locked down by them."

what does that mean? "very tightly locked down" ? you mean they're good at it?

"Also for other business like Google Maps any company using the service
has to pay a fee, it's not free and open like Google wants us to
believe..."

any person or business can use google maps on their website for free. If the map gets used more than 25,000 time a day you have to pay $4 per 1000 over the 25,000. Yeah that's right, 25,000. If your business gets over 25,000 hits a day then you should chip in for the service. Why is that hard to understand?

“The one business search/ads that makes money for Google is very tightly locked down by them.”

what does that mean? “very tightly locked down” ? you mean they’re good at it?

“Also for other business like Google Maps any company using the service
has to pay a fee, it’s not free and open like Google wants us to
believe…”

any person or business can use google maps on their website for free. If the map gets used more than 25,000 time a day you have to pay $4 per 1000 over the 25,000. Yeah that’s right, 25,000. If your business gets over 25,000 hits a day then you should chip in for the service. Why is that hard to understand?

As most people do, you argue out of fear, not logic. Google is not calling for the public sharing of your bank account information, medical history or your intentionally hidden personal information on Facebook. But you are delusional if you think Facebook shares your personal information with no one, as you would like.

You are their unpaid employee, uploading content with personal places, dates, times and preferences that Facebook sells to advertisers for undisclosed millions, maybe billions of dollars. They've convinced you that Facebook is "free" when the only real thing about Facebook that's free is your creative input to their sales databases. For lack of a more eloquent name, you're their biatch, and the more of your life you pour into their hard drives, the more dependent you become on your master, and the greater the value of their stock becomes based on monetizing you and your private, intimate information.

All those intimate things you share on Facebook are read by a corporation whose only real mission is to grow stockholder equity. Trust them, they'd NEVER do anything unethical with your life, right?

Riiiiiiight.

He is right - while also having Google's and his own self-interest at heart. But right is right. For their own security, mental health, legacy, dignity, and the health of the current and future internet ecosystem, people should be flocking from Facebook in droves. Time heals all, tho. Despite the media mysticism and the fog machines they clearly must have on 24x7 in the Facebook offices - it will eventually go the way of AOL, Myspace, etc. When you hear a teen declare, 'Facebook is for old people' (which I heard last week), well, that is Death knocking at the door ....

Actually, I don't want Facebook to share my info with anyone. Most of the info they collect is very personal and I should decide whether its available to anyone. Also Google talks a lot about open, but do they share all the data their crawlers collect with other companies. The short answer is no. Microsoft Bing and Yahoo search can't use search data collected by Google for their search results. If Google was truly open they would have allowed that. The one business search/ads that makes money for Google is very tightly locked down by them.
