I don’t see the “nearby” option in FB app on Galaxy S3. just see a bunch of profile-based friend-finders.

Facebook is researching friend-finding considerably. User locations can be determined not only by check-ins but by geotagged pictures. And anyone asking for friends nearby can be assumed to be implicitly sharing his location as well. It’s a great feature, as long as it’s opt-in. The next feature to come is the ability to be notified of friends nearby.

Ummmmm, I have been waiting for the names to appear, and shocker no one in DC area is using this feature

I think it’s neat for 1. seeing what friends are nearby, and 2. quickly adding people you meet (i.e. a better Bump). That said, this is still the wrong platform for meeting “new people”.
