Evernote updates: Dow Jones, Context, Work Chat

This week the folks at Evernote have let loose several major update features for their software, both mobile and non-mobile based. Two key features are Context and Work Chat, displaying info you need as you might need it and working between teams.

Context and Work Chat

With Context you'll see Evernote begin to show you articles from Fast Company, the Wall Street Journal, Inc Magazine, LinkedIn, Crunchbase, and more. This information will appear as you're doing work. This includes past related work as well as "information a colleague may have on the topic".

With Work Chat you'll have communication and collaboration between individuals and teams. Aiming for services like Quip and Google's own Drive and Hangouts services for collaboration, Evernote expands. They'll have instant messaging inside Evernote inside Android, iOS, Mac OS, and Windows apps and in-browser in late 2014.

Presentation Mode

A new table display has been created for EC4 and Mac interfaces only. This Presentation Mode works with captions and footers, an "unobtrusive UI", and fast and dynamic lines for sectioning content.

Updates to apps and products

Penultimate has been designed to be better integrated with the Evernote suite of apps. Evernote Business is now being used by "more than 16,000 companies worldwide." Both the Pfeiffer Collection and the Evernote 2015 Planner have had additions that'll come in play immediately if not soon.

Finally Dow Jones – Evernote has partnered up with Dow Jones & Company to combine "the Evernote productivity workspace" with bits and pieces of The Wall Street Journal (as noted above) and Factiva. You'll see more from both in the near future.
