EVE Valkyrie: Oculus Rift's first exclusive launch title

Virtual reality gaming appears to have picked up some momentum today as the creators of EVE Online and DUST 514 have revealed that they will be the first to reveal an AAA game designed exclusively for Oculus Rift. Having worked with Oculus since they first happened upon the original Kickstarter campaign, a "small, passionate team" from within CCP Games has stepped forward with the game Valkyrie.

This game brings on "the vastness of space" alongside the "confined area of the cockpit" to give you as much of a "real" experience as a fighter pilot as possible. According to Robert Clarke and Sigurður Gunnarsson, team members of the CCP EVE Valkyrie team, this game has been build from the ground up as a VR game.

"We strongly believe the best VR experiences are going to be the ones built from the ground up for VR, and we've kept that in mind whilst developing Valkyrie.

We wanted people to really feel like they were there – to sense the vastness of space, feel the confined area of the cockpit and get that adrenaline rush as you see an exploding fighter whizz past your head." – CCP EVE Valkyrie team members Robert Clarke, Programmer, and Sigurður Gunnarsson, Senior Programmer

Above you'll see the intro trailer for the game that is now EVE Valkyrie. EVE Online is a massively multiplayer online game played in space, one in which users are piloting ships that do battle with one another across seemingly endless stretches of nothingness. Below you'll find a gameplay demo (a tiny one, at that) which depicts EVE-VR (aka Valkyrie) in motion.

Look terrifying enough to you? Or perhaps it looks like a game that's right up your alley, and atop your head and around the sides of your face. Just immersive enough to get you lost inside the machine forever. You wont be alone, that's for certain.
