epson4k3lcdEpson makes a wide variety of projectors that are aimed at home theater and computer users. Typically, the best resolution you can hope to get on a projector is 1920 x 1080. Projectors in theaters have much higher resolutions in the area of 4096 x 2160.

Epson has announced a new breakthrough that has allowed it to develop the world’s first 4K compatible HTPS TFT LCD for 3LCD projectors. The new panel is only 1.64-inches diagonally and supports 4096 x 2160 resolutions.

The breakthrough will allow for much smaller and less expensive protectors that support the super high resolutions. Projectors using the technology will also be able to throw four full 1080p HD resolution images at the same time. Who knows when we will see this tech hit the market and you can expect it to be very expensive when it does.
