Australia-based company, Emotiv Systems has just developed EPOC, a headset that could make for a truly unique video gaming experience. In fact, this helmet can read your thoughts.

By using 16 brain-wave sensors, EPOC translates your thoughts to your character representation on screen. Prior to the game’s start, you are asked to imagine 11 different actions in your mind including pushing, pulling and lifting. The device will record your brain wave responses, so that when you repeat them later on during the game, all you have to do is imagine lifting something and your character will perform the action.

The technology behind this super-futuristic headset is called electroencephalography or EEG. Used in the medical arena for quite some time, this is the first instance where EEG has been used in a commercial setting.
