Epic's Unreal Engine 4 gets 1080p showcase

Prepare to weep: Epic and NVIDIA have shared Full HD videos and screenshots of exactly what we can expect from Unreal Engine 4, and it's enough to drive dedicated gamers to eager tears of anticipation. The footage, which first emerged earlier today though at reduced resolution, has been joined by a gallery of incredible screenshots demonstrating what we can expect from the GPU-accelerated engine.

The footage, though super-detailed, was actually rendered on a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680. That's a sharp contrast to the Unreal Engine 3 Samaritan demo, which required the combined power of three GeForce GTX 580 cards in SLI configuration.

Unreal Engine 4 includes all of the enhancements from Samaritan, and throws in a new development pipeline among other things. However, Epic also claims that the new engine is capable of running on more mundane systems without dragging things to a halt.
