Elektrobit unveils EB MID reference design at IDF

IDF is in full swing in San Francisco this week and the new product announcements using Intel hardware are coming quickly. Elektrobit Corporation (EB) has shown off a further refinement of a MID reference design first unveiled at Computex Taipei this year. EB worked with both Intel and Ericsson on the design of the MID.

The reference design is aimed at business pros and young adults who are seeking flexible devices for a pocketable, media-centric device. EB has enhanced the design it is showing at IDF with a new user interface and application framework. These two features allow the MID design to be personalized and allows multi-tasking by users.

EB used new high-end technologies in the device for vivid and sophisticated appearances. The design also features haptics to allow the user to touch and manipulate objects effortlessly. EB reports that the reference design can be tailored to the needs of the customer and target market with a range of cellular connectivity options. There is no word on when the design will make it to market.
