The device is described as a non-invasive sleep inducing alternative without side effects common with medications. The device has long, natural sound recordings to help users fall asleep. The device stores dozens of sound recordings and richness settings to augment how the sounds are added. Sounds include things like a crackling fireplace, gentle rain, big city sounds, waves, a thunderstorm, and many more.

The device has an adaptive mode and four different sleep timers with automatic, gradual off and the ability to run the display lights off to reduce the light the unit produces. The sleep timers are 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes in length and the device has a 3.5mm headphone jack. Pricing for the Ecotones device is $149.95.
