Readers must understand that,when Apple or Samsung builds a prout, or in this case, establishes a booming market, it id natural tat competitors will move in to capitalize on it. During development, Apple will think of every patent it can hold, file them,and pay the cost to dissuade or slow down competitors who deign to ride its coattails if the product is successful. The “follower” will find arguable ways around the patents to get product out and desl with the lawsuits later after risk analysis. Samsung has been on Apple’s heels every step of the way and holds many key technology patents and innovations, but never aggregated them into successful “first to marlet” market defining products like Apple or Sony. They are notoriously great at “out-copying” they original to the benefit of consumers.

In the end competition will be allowed to flourish inthe tablet and smartphone space after the rigors of throwing oil slick at the competition till more lanes are established.

Mate if you noticed this is a reply to a post in this article and not directly referred to the article itself.

Also stop asuming that patent A is more important than pattent B, these are two totally unrelated pattents and in this case A is a FRAND standard which you should look up what it means before venting out for no reason.

Mate the design has absolutely NOTHING to do with this article.

This is about Apple stealing SAMSUNG’S property. You know property that actually required work to produce, wireless patents. Not just a remake of decade old designs that never got patented because no1 expected the world to come to a point where some asshat thought a flat rectangular screen on a fat rectangularish box could be licensed copywrited material. .

Its also ur right as a company to protect ur Intellectual Property. Apple started this whole smartphone, iPad thing, if u really want to compete why not come up with a better design approach rather than giving customers a pretty similar alternative. I admire Microsoft for instance and Nokia as well, this is a very good example of how possible is to compete in the same sector while keeping it orignal

What a mess! Two companies who have worked together – and remain interdependent – are behaving badly. Both are greedy and IMHO Apple is arrogant beyond belief.

Courts in some countries have given Apple an unreasonable market advantage based on ridiculously broad design registration documentation. Samsung have hit back with tools that seem inappropriate at best; and that attack is probably going to fail. Apple seem to think they simply own the rights to whole product sectors, which is deeply anticompetitive and bad for consumers; meanwhile Samsung have been crass in producing Me2 products that frankly provoked one of their biggest customers into legal retaliation.

Perhaps the courts should throw both companies cases out and tell them to fight it out in the market, or cooperate and stop behaving like spoiled children.
