Earthquake Supernova MKVI flagship subs

Audio specialists Earthquake Sound have revealed their latest floor-throbbing subwoofers, the Supernova MKVI series.  Hand-made in the US, the MKVI slots in at the top of Earthquake's subwoofer range and packs a 1200 watt dynamic and 600 watt RMS Class D switching amplifier together with a new room correction system for balancing the sound.  Unlike rivals, which equalize by adjusting the volume, the Earthquake system takes time reflections and refractions into consideration.

In fact, group delay, phase and time delay can all be adjusted, and there's a remote control so you don't have to be hunched over in the corner of the room to do all the tweaking.  Earthquake have also used their patented SLAPStechnology; while the name might suggest a quick punch to the face in particularly rumbly movie scenes, it actually stands for "symmetrically loaded passive radiator".  It's basically a super-skinny speaker cone that lets the enclosure be compact while the bass is anything but.

Available now, the Supernova MKVI comes in two sizes and two finishes.  The 12-inch versions are priced at $2,899 for the Black lacquer piano finish or $2,399 for the black ash wood veneer finish.  Meanwhile, the larger 15-inch versions are priced at $3,399 for the piano finish or $2,899 for the black ash finish.

Press Release:

UAE, Dubai (CES/HOMETECH 2008, BOOTH #HT371) May 2008 — Expanding their most popular subwoofer line, Earthquake Sound, Corp., the world's leading manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, announced the addition of the Supernova MKVI to the Supernova Series subwoofers. The MKVI was created to meet the demand for powerful, dynamic, accurate bass in newer theater systems.

With the addition of the MKVI, hand made in the USA by people who know what they are doing, the Supernova Series is now comprised of three models: the Supernova MKIV, MKV and the New MKVI. Like all the Supernova models, the MKVI series features a 1200 watt dynamic and 600 watt RMS Class D switching amplifier. However, with the MKVI's new amplifier, it boasts a room correction system which is unrivalled by any other. This new exclusive amplifier comes equipped with an advanced group delay, phase and time delay plus a user-friendly remote control for ease of use.

The MKVI Series features a built in 600-watt class D amp with advanced room correction feature and comes complete with its own remote control. The series carries on the tradition of previous models, by utilizing the SLAPS passive radiator. The use of the proven patented SLAPS allows the subwoofer to put out amazingly deep and accurate bass response from a tiny cube (enclosure). Designed for high end home theater systems and recording studios the Supernova MKVI delivers unmatched performance from a small space and will out perform any other subwoofer period.

The Supernova-MKVI subwoofers are currently shipping in either a real black ash wood veneer or an exquisite Black lacquer piano finish. The suggested retail price: 12" model in Black Piano is $2,899; 12" model in Black Ash is $2,399.00; 15" model in Black Piano is $3,399.00 and the 15" model in Black Ash is $2,899.00.
