I may agree in some cases but with the Galaxy Nexus many stores already have them in hand. Whether or not this is a "hardware issue" there is not a snowballs chance in he'll that all of those units are going to get shipped back. The wheels are already turning... just release the damn thing!

This isn't always true.
Early adapters sometimes benefit greatly. Take the PSP for an example. PSP-1001 was the most sought after purely for the fact that it was much easier to install custom firmware. Same goes for the fat PS3 60GB. It had hardware support for PS2 game support

Great article, and I couldn't agree more. A few bugs and quirks can be lived with, and I think are expected from most early adopters. But that's no excuse for it being unusable, or a seriously diminished feature-set.

In this case I don't think it damages their reputation at all, in fact enhances it. They screwed up technologically, but dealt with it very well from a customer service standpoint.

Nice writeup agree 100%.

I'd say the battery issues with ios5 would be a better example of a failure at launch. For most average users, Siri has beat expectations. My mother, father, and uncle all report great things... But coming from android and blackberry their expectations were low. My thinking is that since Siri was released as a beta, you can't complain much but should voice feedback to Apple forums, stores, and support. The battery troubles, different story entirely. The iPhone's steady improvements (app store, for one) are a direct result of customer/developer feedback.
