EA talks Mass Effect 3 and Star Wars: TOR numbers

Electronic Arts has had a couple of big launches in the last several months in the video game realm with Star Wars: The Old Republic and the recent launch of Mass Effect 3. EA is talking about sales and subscriber numbers for the two video games. According to the company, ME3 sold 890,000 copies during the first 24 hours it was on sale in North America.

International sales numbers for the game weren't immediately available because it launched later in Europe. EA has come back and noted that it shipped 3.5 million copies of the game to retailers. ME3 also had additional download content available immediately at launch day. GameStop reports 40% of the people who bought the game also purchased download content making the tie ratio the largest in the company's history.

EA also noted that the Star Wars MMO game has 1.7 million active subscribers. That number is largely unchanged from what was announced in February. However, in February many of those subscribers were still in their 30-day free trial that came with the game purchase. The number reported now are mostly subscribing and paying customers. Star Wars: TOR developer Bioware has also teased with the trailer for version 1.2 of the game that will be free for subscribers.
